It wasn't actually her garden, but Night Sky had never minded sharing and tended to bring fresh items to the kitchen all the time.
Lehna opened the door with a big smile, assuming that this woman who had just showed up was Charlie. If she wasn't, it didn't quite matter as Lehna embraced her and took the bottle of champagne without a second thought. "Welcome to Castle Emberglow!"
She showed the way through the kitchen where she'd already mixed together most of the ingredients required for the quiches; in addition to Charlie's request, she made some mushroom and asparagus quiche filling and some orange cranberry scones. She pulled some fresh orange juice out along with two glasses.
"I may have gone a little overboard with the food," she said sheepishly.
"Hi-oh!" Charlie clearly didn't anticipate the hug with the way she jumped, but she also didn't seem to mind it once she recovered, squeezing her arm around the other woman before she pulled back. "Haha, hi! I'm Charlie. But I'm sure you guessed that..." she cleared her throat. "Thank you. This place looks amazing."
And in they went. Charlie's eyes widened at the array of food. "Oh, wow..." she laughed. "I guess you didn't need my help after all."
"I just really enjoy cooking for others," Lehna said. "We can make more if you'd like! I am sure there are others wandering about the castle who would enjoy some free food."
She slid out some plates and utensils and slid down on a chair at the table with a motion for Charlie to join her. Lehna took in the woman's appearance, having never met anyone that looked anything like Charlie before. "You're very pretty," Lehna said with a smile. "I'm surprised I haven't seen you before. I assume you are a Dreamer as well?"
"How many other people live here? This castle is massive." That said, if they needed to make more food, she wasn't going to complain.
Charlie sat, taking a sip of her mimosa just as Lehna spoke - and very nearly spitting it out, instead awkwardly choking on the liquid and coughing. "Wow, uh, thank you! You're really pretty, too. I love your ears." Jesus Christ, Charlie. "I am! I only just got here a few days ago."
"Uh, a few. Like four?" Maybe? It sometimes felt like there was a constant revolving door of people in Somnius, and Lehna had to admit that she spent most of her time with her nose buried in the forge or in between someone's legs.
"Oh thank you!" Lehna lets out a soft laugh, drinking her own mimosa in amusement as she watches Charlie. "Oh! So not very long at all! Were you here for... Vaeros' tantrum?" The last part she says hesitantly. Delicate. As if Vaeros might wake up and strike her down where she sat.
"Well. There was something with the moon, and we had to storm his castle to put him and whatever else lurks in his castle to sleep... He hasn't woken up yet, I don't think." Lehna chewed on her own bite of quiche, wondering what was going to happen. "I don't really know the full context of what happened. I was a bit... distracted."
"No idea!" Lehna sounds far too casual about this. But it's not like they can do anything about it either way, right? They'd already spent so much effort trying to put him to sleep in the first place. "Nothing bad has happened since he fell asleep really, so..." She shrugs, eating her food like it's nothing. There were some weird things, but, well... Nothing bad.
"Like the fish raining from the sky? I heard that wasn't normal." But she didn't think twice about it. Raining fish was better than blood rain or whatever. "I liked the ones with tophats."
"Yes... like the fish." That made her frown. That, at least, she probably could have collected for some cooking--at least if she had been quick enough. At Charlie's comment, Lehna laughs and leans over the table to look at her. "So Charlie... if the fish are weird for you, I'd like to hear more about the world you come from." As if to imply fish falling out of the sky was normal anywhere. It was not.
"Aha, well!" She awkwardly wrang her hands together. "So, I'm from hell. The pride ring, specifically. There's murder and sex and sometimes it rains blood - you know, hell stuff." Blah blah blah ignore that part. "I run a hotel down there though! It's for sinners who want to redeem themselves."
Lehna frowned at the thought that the hotel was not doing as great as Charlie would have hoped, but-- "I am certain things will work out with enough determination. You seem like a strong woman who won't let anything hold you back."
With a grin, Lehna began to delve into the details of seven hells. "I'll admit I am no expert on the subject. Faith was not something that ever stuck with me. But each Hell represents a different elementally aligned magic, based on the Twelve gods that rule us. The Seventh is not aligned with an element, but exists outside of what the Twelve represent."
Charlie felt her cheeks flush, but smiled brightly nonetheless. Few and far between were those that actually believed that her hotel would succeed. "Thank you. I really appreciate you saying so."
Intrigued, Charlie leaned in, chin in her hands. "That sounds waaaay more magical than the Hell I'm from. It also doesn't... sound bad?" What's the catch.
"Oh, it is bad." Lehna waved her hand. "There are heavens as well--do you have those too? It's simply that each Hell is a different sin one might commit, and how their soul should be punished."
She paused, though. "However, I know they are not real. People enter the lifestream when they die, where their soul is eventually reborn into a new person."
"We have a heaven, yeah." Ugh. No shade to heaven because technically it was great for everyone that got in, but it sure wasn't great with Adam up there. "Oh, that's kind of like the rings! Just worded differently, I guess. Close enough." Bad, either way.
A beat. "Oh." Nevermind. "So they're... do they remember being someone else?"
Lehna wondered what heaven would be like in a world where Charlie lived in Hell. "The rings... I see! That does make sense, though--and I am glad that the beliefs of many aren't entirely unfounded, even if they don't exist in my world. At least they exist somewhere."
And then, regarding past lives, she frowns. "No. It's rare that anyone even knows who their past lives were, even if there is some sort of connection. There were a very small number of people who could tell souls apart, but most of them were gone before I arrived here." She'd killed... all of them, really. Even Hythlodaeus, in a way. "If you've met Venat--she actually knew one of my past selves. Azem." But she tried not to think about who that person was too much--she was not them.

But the last part has Lehna grinning. "That sounds like a lovely goal! How successful has it been for you?"

Charlie rubbed the back of her neck nervously. "Well..." and trailed off. Not so successful seemed to be the implication. "We had a rocky start."
