"Oh, it is bad." Lehna waved her hand. "There are heavens as well--do you have those too? It's simply that each Hell is a different sin one might commit, and how their soul should be punished."
She paused, though. "However, I know they are not real. People enter the lifestream when they die, where their soul is eventually reborn into a new person."
"We have a heaven, yeah." Ugh. No shade to heaven because technically it was great for everyone that got in, but it sure wasn't great with Adam up there. "Oh, that's kind of like the rings! Just worded differently, I guess. Close enough." Bad, either way.
A beat. "Oh." Nevermind. "So they're... do they remember being someone else?"
Lehna wondered what heaven would be like in a world where Charlie lived in Hell. "The rings... I see! That does make sense, though--and I am glad that the beliefs of many aren't entirely unfounded, even if they don't exist in my world. At least they exist somewhere."
And then, regarding past lives, she frowns. "No. It's rare that anyone even knows who their past lives were, even if there is some sort of connection. There were a very small number of people who could tell souls apart, but most of them were gone before I arrived here." She'd killed... all of them, really. Even Hythlodaeus, in a way. "If you've met Venat--she actually knew one of my past selves. Azem." But she tried not to think about who that person was too much--she was not them.
